First FAX

Sending First FAX

  1. Login as admin
  2. Add gateway / trunk for outgoing fax at "AstBill Admin" => "Provider Trunks"
  3. Import routes for recently created trunk at "AstBill Admin" => "Provider Routes"
    1. first export existing routes and save on your local system
    2. edit saved file and replace trunk name with newly created trunk's name
    3. import this file again. while deleting existing routes (if you you do not want to use multiple trunks)
  4. Update rate list for "FAX" rate plan at "AstBill Admin" => "Price List"
    1. first export existing rate list for "fax"
    2. edit saved file and change rate for prefixs and saved
    3. import this file again under "fax" rate plan
  5. Create new user at "administer" => "users" => "add user"
  6. Create VoIP account for newly created user at "AstBill Admin" => "Create Account"
  7. Add some balance in newly created VoIP account via "AstBill Admin" => "Payments" => "Create New Payments"
  8. Logout
  9. Login as newly created user
  10. Send new fax via "FAX Account" => "Create New FAX"

    or via email2fax

  11. From user registration email address send an email with following values

    To: faxnumber@FAX_DOMAIN.TLD
    Subject: Anything
    Body:
    pass: accountPassword

    Attachment: pdf file

    NOTE: pass should be first line in body and there must be a blank line after it,
    there must no space between "pass" and colon ":" but one space is required after colon ":"

Receiving First FAX

  1. Point DIDs to fax server
  2. Configure asterisk to receive traffic for this DID provider
  3. Make sure that context for incoming traffic of DIDs in asterisk should be "receive-fax"
  4. In Web GUI login as admin
  5. Add incoming did number at "AstBill Admin" => "Settings" => "Generate DIDs"
  6. Assign a DID number to previously created VoIP Account from "AstBill Admin" => "Incoming Numbers"
  7. Logout
  8. Login as previously created user
  9. Click on "Change" "Voip Account" => "Incoming Numbers"
  10. Forward fax by selecting "Receive FAX" and enter some email address in given box and save
  11. Send test fax to selected did
